ISO/TS 16949

Introduction

ISO/TS (Technical Specification) 16949 is a quality management system standard specific to the Automotive industry, which aligns existing automotive quality system requirements within the global automotive industry. It is the new automotive standard, which many vehicle manufacturers are either mandating or accepting instead of QS-9000, VDA.6, EAQF or AVSQ.

What is ISO/TS 16949?

ISO/TS 16949 is an ISO Technical Specification, written by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF), which aligns existing US, German, French and Italian automotive quality system standards within the global automotive industry. It specifies the quality system requirements for the design, development, production, installation and servicing of automotive-related parts. Most of the world's Vehicle Manufacturers have identified ISO/TS 16949 as the preferred Quality Management System for their suppliers. Many first tier automotive component manufacturers are also asking their suppliers to adopt ISO/TS 16949.
